What does an accountant for contractors actually do?

At Pro Business Tax and Accounting we handle your business bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, payroll, payroll taxes, WSIB, HST, and tax planning — all customized for how trades and construction businesses operate. You get clear reporting and stress-free compliance.

Why hire a CPA who understands construction & trades?

Because construction and service trades have unique rules for materials, labour, and HST. We know how to record and structure these correctly so you stay audit-proof and profitable.

Do contractors need to charge/remit HST?

Yes, once you exceed $30,000 in annual revenue. We manage registration, filings, and reconciliations so nothing falls through the cracks.

What's included in a monthly accounting package?

At a high level, it includes bookkeeping, payroll, tax compliance, HST, T2. However, we can custom-fit a package to suit your business's needs to ensure a perfect fit.

Can you help with payroll for subcontractors/employees?

Yes, we certainly can help with payroll, payroll taxes, T4, ROE, T5018, T4A - our model and services are scalable and grow with your business needs.

I'm behind on bookkeeping—can you catch me up?

Totally! We know how stressful it can be to catch up on months and years of bookkeeping. We have a proven system in place that can take the stress out of it. We'll clean up prior years, file outstanding returns, and get you back on track fast.

Do you work with QuickBooks or Xero?

Both! Our team has QuickBooks ProAdvisors and Xero certified bookkeepers to get you setup efficiently.

Do you only work with Ontario-based contractors?

Pro Business Tax and Accounting is based in Vaughan, Ontario - but being a tech-forward firm with cloud based systems we are setup to effectively service clients throughout Canada, except Quebec.

What's the first step?

If you're ready to get started, we can setup a discovery call with one of our team members to understand your business, goals, and pain-points. From there we will customize your accounting package, and get you onboarded. To get started, book a time on our calendar.
