FAQ

Legitimate business expenses: home office, business use of your vehicle, marketing and ads, software and subscriptions, professional fees, a portion of your phone and internet, supplies, and equipment. The rule is simple — if it's genuinely for the business and you keep the receipt, it likely counts

Yes. If you work from home, you can claim a reasonable portion of your rent or mortgage interest, utilities, and internet, based on the share of your space used for work. Done properly, it's often one of the biggest deductions available to the self-employed.

Once your business earns more than $30,000 in revenue over four consecutive quarters, you're required to register for HST and start charging it. Some situations require registering sooner. We handle registration and filing so it's one less thing to track.

Generally, if your net tax owing is over the CRA's threshold two years in a row, they'll ask you to pay by quarterly instalments rather than in one lump sum. We forecast this for you so there's no surprise bill — and no instalment interest.

Sometimes — usually once your income is consistent and higher than what you need to live on, so you can benefit from tax deferral and lower corporate rates. We'll run your actual numbers and tell you honestly whether it's worth it yet. No upsell.

Your income (invoices and payment records), receipts for expenses, and a mileage log if you claim vehicle costs. We can set you up with a simple cloud system so this takes minutes, not weekends.
